Preparing your home for carpet & furniture cleaning

There are steps you can take to help us do a superb job for you. Here is a list, not in any particular order.

Also, please review What to expect on cleaning day  for more information.  Thank you.

FOR OUR CITY CUSTOMERS, We operate truck mounted equipment and run hoses into your home from the truck.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that you SAVE US A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME, or within a door or two either side of your home, on the SAME SIDE of the street, otherwise we cannot do the job. Please keep in mind that the trucks are full size, extended vans that are 20' long from bumper to bumper so WILL REQUIRE A LARGER SPACE up to 25'   THANK YOU.

Leave large pieces of furniture in place, (dressers, tables, couches etc.) so that we don’t create new indentations in the carpet. we’ll typically dry vacuum under and behind large pieces, and wet clean if needed, moving them as needed and resetting onto plastic tabs or Styrofoam blocks.

Remove or lay down picture frames, lamps and breakables from nightstands, end tables, coffee table etc. especially for furniture cleaning.

Pick up small items, clothing, toys, shoes, boxes, piles of papers, magazines etc. off the floor.

Try to resist the urge to pile everything onto a bed. The carpet may still be a little damp by bedtime and you don’t want to put stuff back onto a damp floor, but you will want to lay down on your bed.

Utilize hard floor areas of the home to stage items until the carpeting is completely dry which is typically 4-6 hours or longer depending upon the length and density of pile, temperature, humidity and amount of airflow. To accelerate the drying process, we'll leave you a blower, which we’ll pick up a day or so later, but you can also turn up the thermostat and utilize any fans you may have for a faster drying time.

Pick up or tuck up the skirt around beds, so that we can see the bed frame, and clear out under the bed, if practical.

If your able to, vacuum the carpeting throughout, this will save us time and will help in keeping down the overall cost of the job.

Prepare several old towels to use as floor mats, where damp carpet meets wood or tile flooring. The towels will be used as a step off, to help prevent slips and falls. Never place towels or mats directly onto damp carpeting, as this will slow down the drying process and may cause staining and malodors.

If you want to clear out your closets, we say go for it. This may be a great time to purge and clean out those cluttered closets and reveal the floor and possibly donate stuff to a womens shelter, homeless shelter or charity shop of your choice.

Bottom line: The more floor space that is clear, the better job we can do for you AND you'll feel so much better that we got into the closets.
